Emile Whaibeh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Balamand. He is also currently completing a BA in English Literature at the Lebanese University as well as a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Balamand. He firmly believes that health is not merely the absence of disease or disability, but the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and that does not exclude minorities. His interests include raising awareness on sexual and reproductive health, especially among the members of the LGBT community and other marginalized minorities in this country. In addition, he finds minority health research to be an efficient tool to influence mentalities and attitudes that demonize queer people, consider their gender and sexuality a taboo and view their lives as insignificant.
