I am second year nursing student at the American University of Beirut. I have always believed in equality and that with unity we can achieve the impossible. Even though coming from a rigid conservative background, the environment induced a sense of exploration of the world that I haven’t yet discovered. Nevertheless, in my journey of discovery, I have met many people that challenged my beliefs and gave me the opportunity to view people on the inside rather on the out because, sometimes, looks deceive and holding on prejudice and resentment is a major sin committed by mankind. By going through several series of experience with people from other religions, races, cultures, and, especially sexual orientations, it pushed into becoming an advocate for equality for self-acceptance and accepting others.
